More Like “VH-Done” — Am I Right?
This weekend was the first time I’ve had the opportunity to really watch VH1′s “I Love the New Millenium.” And, you know something? I’ve neither the time nor the bile to really make fun of it. I could point out — as so many others have — that they seem to have jumped the gun a little bit, what with the fact that we’re only up to ’08.
But, consider the positive outcomes: For one thing, this means that VH1 might be indicating that they are willing to cut these specials back to only one a year (with the requisite marathon of all the preceding years, of course); for another, anything that distracts VH1 from that “Celebreality” crap is probably a good thing.
The big thing I’ve noticed about the “I Love…” series is that the producers seem to be caught between two opposing forces. Sure, it’s an incredibly cheap to make, but they keep having to weld the series to various concepts. I say, give in, you morally bankrupt TV-people. Go ahead and just call it, “I Love Everything,” tape ‘em whenever you feel like it, and toss them onto the schedule whenever a lesser-Hogan wipes out one of your other shows in a display of life-ruining stupidity.
On second thought, why don’t you just shut the channel down and give it a rest, okay? Thanks.
